I'm the Residential Lending Manager at Cook Inlet Lending Center, a Native CDFI in Anchorage, Alaska — and the youngest-ever President of the Alaska Mortgage Bankers Association. I write about what it actually takes to modernize CDFI lending, build a next-generation career in mortgage, and serve communities that most of the industry overlooks. Biweekly. No fluff. From the field.
That's exactly why I see this industry differently.
I have a Bachelor's in Recording Arts Technology. I went to school to be an audio engineer. I was all-in on music, sound design, and the creative world — and then life shifted. I moved back to Alaska, started a family, and needed work. I landed in a collections department at a credit union with no mortgage background and no idea what I was doing.
That was over ten years ago.
I moved into real estate lending, found my footing, and started to grow. Over the next decade I built through training, quality control, and operations leadership — and eventually joined Cook Inlet Lending Center, a Native CDFI in Anchorage, Alaska.
That's where everything changed.
Today I serve as Residential Lending Manager at Cook Inlet, leading lending operations for one of the only Native CDFIs in Alaska. I'm also the youngest-ever President of the Alaska Mortgage Bankers Association — a role I didn't expect to hold at this age
I modernize lending operations from the inside. I build systems that help CDFIs and Native CDFIs serve more families without losing the mission that makes them worth preserving.
I created the Design-Build Framework — a methodology for CDFI modernization that helped us grow DPA lending 367% and broker lending 340% at Cook Inlet, with a four-person team.
I speak nationally on CDFI lending models, operational modernization, and what next-generation mortgage leadership actually looks like. And I write Lending Forward — a biweekly newsletter for the professionals building the future of this industry.
I am not Alaska Native. I serve Native communities through my work at a Native CDFI. That distinction matters, and I try to always hold it honestly.
The audio engineering background isn't a fun fact — it's how I think. Signal vs. noise. Layered systems. The discipline of listening before you build. That lens shaped everything I've done in mortgage operations.
I'm building toward something bigger. Not for the title — because more families get served when the right people are in the right rooms. Everything I'm doing now is the foundation for that.
